James Melville (cricketer, born 1909)

James Melville (born 20 March 1909, date of death unknown) was a Scottish first-class cricketer.

Melville was a right-handed batsman who played primarily for Scotland and Cambridge University. He made his first-class debut for Cambridge University against Northamptonshire in 1930, playing 25 first-class matches for the university between 1930 and 1932. He scored 1,293 runs for Cambridge, with a highest score of 122 not out against Free Foresters in 1932.

He also played 11 first-class matches for Scotland between 1930 and 1938. His highest score for Scotland was 88 against Ireland in 1935. In total, he scored 410 runs for Scotland. Melville also played for the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) on occasion.
