Järvenpää

Järvenpää is a town and municipality in Southern Finland, located about 37 kilometers (23 miles) north of Helsinki. It is part of the Uusimaa region.

History:

Järvenpää began as a small village, largely agricultural. Its development accelerated significantly after the construction of the Helsinki-Riihimäki railway in 1862. The area surrounding the railway station became a hub, and Järvenpää gradually grew into a market town and then a municipality. It gained town status in 1951.

Geography:

Järvenpää is situated in a region characterized by forests and agricultural land. Lake Tuusulanjärvi, located just west of the town, plays a significant role in the area's landscape and recreational opportunities. The town is relatively flat, typical of Southern Finland.
