Ibrahim Hussein (artist)
Ibrahim Hussein (1936-2009) was a prominent Malaysian artist known for his abstract expressionist paintings, prints, and sculptures. A pioneer of modern Malaysian art, he played a significant role in shaping the artistic landscape of the nation.
Born in Sungai Limau, Yan, Kedah, Malaysia, Ibrahim Hussein received his formal art education at Byam Shaw School of Art in London and later at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome. His international exposure profoundly influenced his artistic style, blending Western art movements with his Malaysian heritage and perspective.
Ibrahim Hussein's work is characterized by bold colors, dynamic brushstrokes, and layered textures. He often incorporated found objects and mixed media into his pieces, reflecting his experimentation and innovative approach.
