Honda City (AA)

The Honda City (AA) refers to the first generation of the Honda City subcompact car, produced by Honda from 1981 to 1986. This model was originally marketed primarily in Japan, Europe, and Australasia. It was known for its innovative "tallboy" design, short wheelbase, and being offered in hatchback and van body styles.

The "AA" designation is a chassis code used by Honda to identify this specific generation of the City. The car featured a 1.2-liter four-cylinder engine, often paired with a 5-speed manual transmission or Honda's "Hyper Shift" 4-speed semi-automatic transmission. Some models, particularly those sold outside Japan, also included features like air conditioning and power windows.

A notable variant of the first-generation City was the Honda City Turbo, which added a turbocharger to the engine for increased performance. Another variant, the Honda City Cabriolet, offered an open-top driving experience. The Honda City was succeeded by the Honda City (GA) in 1986.
