Hollow (band)

Hollow is a Swedish melodic death metal band formed in Borås in 1992. They are known for their aggressive and technical style, often incorporating elements of thrash metal and progressive metal.

History:

Hollow was founded by guitarist Andreas Holma, vocalist and guitarist Mikael Hallberg, and drummer Peter Esberg. The band's early influences included bands like At The Gates, Carcass, and Dark Tranquillity. They released several demos in the early to mid-1990s, gaining a following in the underground metal scene.

Their debut album, Of Forgotten Origin, was released in 1997 on Black Sun Records. The album showcased their technical prowess and aggressive songwriting, establishing them as a promising act in the melodic death metal genre.

Hollow continued to tour and release albums throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, including Architects of Disaster (1999) and Hollow (2002). These albums further developed their sound, incorporating more complex arrangements and exploring darker themes.

The band faced lineup changes and periods of inactivity throughout the 2000s, but they eventually reunited and began working on new material.

In 2013, Hollow released their fourth studio album, Exit Mundi, on Lifeforce Records. The album was well-received by critics and fans, marking a successful return for the band. Exit Mundi demonstrated a continued evolution of their sound, incorporating elements of post-metal and atmospheric textures.

Hollow continues to be active, performing live and working on new music. They are considered a significant band in the Swedish melodic death metal scene, known for their technical skill and aggressive approach to the genre.
