Hero (1985 film)

Hero is a 1985 Indian Hindi-language action romance film directed by Subhash Ghai. It stars Jackie Shroff and Meenakshi Seshadri in the leading roles. The music was composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal and was highly successful.

The film tells the story of Sooraj (Jackie Shroff), a gangster who is ordered by his boss, Pasha (Amrish Puri), to kidnap Radha (Meenakshi Seshadri), the daughter of Police Commissioner Mathur (Shammi Kapoor). Sooraj follows Pasha’s orders but ends up falling in love with Radha. He eventually decides to protect her from Pasha and his gang.

Hero was a major commercial success at the Indian box office, becoming one of the highest-grossing films of the year. Jackie Shroff rose to stardom with this film, and its soundtrack remains popular to this day. The film was known for its action sequences, romantic storyline, and memorable songs. It was remade in Telugu as Vikram (1986) and in Hindi as Hero (2015) directed by Nikhil Advani.
