Black'n'Roll (album)

Black'n'Roll is the third full-length studio album by the Norwegian black metal band Darkthrone. It was released in 2006 by Peaceville Records.

The album marks a continuation of Darkthrone's stylistic shift away from traditional black metal towards a more crust punk and heavy metal influenced sound, often described as "blackened rock 'n' roll." This departure began with Hate Them (2003) and became more pronounced with Sardonic Wrath (2004). Black'n'Roll further solidifies this direction, featuring simpler song structures, more prominent bass lines, and a rawer, less polished production compared to their earlier work.

Fenriz is credited with writing the majority of the music, while Nocturno Culto performs the vocals. The lyrical themes remain consistent with Darkthrone's established interests, encompassing misanthropy, darkness, and anti-establishment sentiments. The album's title itself reflects the band's description of their evolving musical style. It is generally considered a controversial release among some long-time Darkthrone fans who prefer their older, more traditional black metal sound, while others appreciate the band's willingness to experiment and explore different musical avenues.
