Helen Grant (politician)
Helen Grant (born 28 September 1961) is a British Conservative Party politician who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Maidstone and The Weald since 2010.
Grant was born in London to a Nigerian father and an English mother. She was raised in Cumbria. Before entering politics, she was a solicitor, specializing in family law.
In Parliament, Grant has held several ministerial positions, including:
- Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Justice (2012-2013)
- Minister for Sport, Tourism and Equalities (2013-2015)
- Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Justice (2018-2020)
She has also served as the Conservative Party Vice Chairman for Communities.
Grant is known for her work on social mobility and equality issues. She has also been a vocal advocate for women in sport.
