David Preece (footballer, born 1976)
David Preece (born 7 October 1976) is an English-born Northern Irish former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper.
Preece began his career at Luton Town, making his professional debut in 1996. After loan spells with Cambridge United and Scarborough, he moved to Aberdeen in 1999, where he became a first-team regular. Following a successful spell in Scotland, Preece signed for Danish side Silkeborg IF in 2003. He later played for Odense Boldklub and AGF Aarhus, remaining in Denmark for several years.
In 2008, Preece returned to England and joined Barnsley. He also had a short spell with Lincoln City before returning to Denmark to play for Esbjerg fB. He finished his playing career back in England with Gainsborough Trinity.
Preece represented Northern Ireland at international level, earning one cap in 2002 against Liechtenstein. After retiring from professional football, he has worked as a goalkeeping coach and pundit, notably appearing on television and radio as a football analyst. He is known for his insightful commentary and knowledge of goalkeeping techniques.
