Harvest (Neopagan magazine)
Harvest was a British Neopagan magazine published quarterly from 1980 to 2001. Founded by John and Tricia Crowther, it aimed to provide a platform for diverse voices within the Pagan community, encompassing Wicca, Druidry, Heathenry, and other related traditions.
Harvest distinguished itself from other Pagan publications of the time by its focus on intellectual discussion and thoughtful exploration of Paganism. Articles covered a wide range of topics, including ritual practice, mythology, history, folklore, ethics, and contemporary issues facing the Pagan community. The magazine also featured reviews of books and other media, as well as announcements of events and gatherings.
Contributors to Harvest included many prominent figures in the Neopagan movement, both academics and practitioners. The magazine played a significant role in shaping the development of Pagan thought and practice during the late 20th century, fostering dialogue and promoting greater understanding within the diverse and evolving Pagan landscape. Its emphasis on scholarly rigor and inclusivity helped to elevate the discourse surrounding Paganism and contribute to its growing acceptance in wider society. Although publication ceased in 2001, back issues of Harvest remain a valuable resource for those interested in the history and development of Neopaganism.
