Happyland (TV series)
Happyland was an American teen drama television series created by Ben Epstein, that aired on MTV from September 30 to December 2, 2014. The series revolves around the lives of teenagers working and living at "Happyland," a fictional, heavily-themed amusement park.
The central character is Lucy Velez (played by Bianca A. Santos), a cynical teenager who works as a fortune teller at the park. Lucy's perception of Happyland's fairy-tale facade is challenged when she falls for Ian Chandler (played by Shane Harper), the son of the park's new owner. Ian's arrival exposes the hidden drama and complex relationships among the park's employees and residents, revealing the less-than-magical realities beneath the cheerful surface.
Other key characters include Elena Velez (played by Jennifer Aspen), Lucy's mother, who works as a princess impersonator at the park and is struggling with her own romantic life; and Theodore "Theo" Chandler (played by Cameron Moulène), Ian's troubled younger brother.
The series explored themes of love, class, ambition, and the disillusionment of youth, set against the backdrop of the manufactured happiness of an amusement park. Happyland was cancelled after one season due to low ratings.
