Hanaper
A hanaper is a term, now largely archaic, for a large wicker basket, usually with a cover. Historically, hanapers were used for transporting provisions, particularly food and drink, on journeys or to markets. They were often employed by individuals of high status or those involved in trade to securely carry goods. The word suggests a basket of considerable size and strength, suitable for carrying substantial quantities of items. The term appears frequently in older literature and historical documents relating to household management and commerce.
