Hala (film)

Hala is a 2019 American coming-of-age drama film written and directed by Minhal Baig. The film stars Geraldine Viswanathan as Hala, a Pakistani-American teenager navigating her Muslim upbringing, cultural expectations, and her burgeoning sexuality as she enters her senior year of high school. The film explores themes of identity, faith, family, and independence.

The film premiered at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. Apple TV+ acquired the distribution rights, and it was released in limited theaters in November 2019 before streaming on Apple TV+ in December 2019.
