HMS Quail (1895)
HMS Quail was a Quail-class torpedo boat destroyer (TB Destroyer) of the Royal Navy. Built by Thomson, Clydebank, she was launched in 1895 and served during the First World War.
Quail and her sisters were part of the early generation of torpedo boat destroyers, designed to counter the threat posed by torpedo boats to larger warships. They were small and fast, with armament focused on countering the torpedo boat threat.
Quail's service included patrol duties in the English Channel and North Sea. During the First World War, she was involved in anti-submarine patrols and convoy escort duties. Details of specific engagements are scarce, but records indicate her presence within operational flotillas during the war.
Quail was scrapped after the war, in 1919.
