HMS Calypso (D61)
HMS Calypso (D61) was a C-class light cruiser built for the Royal Navy in the early 1940s. She was one of the last cruisers of that design to be completed. Calypso, along with her sister ship HMS Caledon, represented a slightly modified version of the Ceres sub-class.
Service History:
Calypso was commissioned in 1942 and saw extensive service during World War II. She participated in convoy escort duties in the Atlantic, protecting merchant ships from U-boat attacks. She also operated in the Mediterranean, supporting Allied operations.
Following the end of World War II, Calypso remained in service with the Royal Navy, participating in peacetime duties and exercises.
Fate:
HMS Calypso was decommissioned and scrapped in 1957.
