Peter Macdonald (Canadian politician)

Peter Macdonald (born June 15, 1936) is a Canadian politician who served as the Progressive Conservative Member of Parliament for Cardigan, Prince Edward Island, from 1984 to 1993.

Macdonald was first elected to the House of Commons in the 1984 federal election, defeating Liberal incumbent Daniel J. MacDonald. He served on various committees during his time in Parliament, focusing on issues related to fisheries and agriculture, important sectors for Prince Edward Island.

He was re-elected in the 1988 federal election. His political career ended with his defeat in the 1993 election, where he lost to Liberal candidate Lawrence MacAulay.

Following his time in federal politics, Macdonald remained active in his community on Prince Edward Island. He is a graduate of Saint Dunstan's University (later merged into the University of Prince Edward Island).
