Two Rivers (Red River of the North tributary)
Two Rivers is a waterway located in northwestern Minnesota, United States. It is a tributary of the Red River of the North. The Two Rivers is formed by the confluence of the South Branch Two Rivers and the Middle Branch Two Rivers, which join near the town of Hallock, Minnesota. From this point, the Two Rivers flows generally north and west, eventually emptying into the Red River of the North.
The watershed of the Two Rivers primarily consists of agricultural land. The surrounding area is generally flat and characterized by prairie and farmland. The river is relatively slow-moving and shallow in many areas.
The name "Two Rivers" likely refers to the two major branches that form the main river. The river is important for local drainage and supports a variety of fish and wildlife. While not a major navigable waterway, it plays a role in the local ecosystem and hydrology. The river is subject to seasonal flooding, especially during spring snowmelt. The Two Rivers watershed is managed, in part, by local watershed districts and other governmental agencies focused on water quality and flood control.
