HD 36041

HD 36041 is a G-type main-sequence star located approximately 149 light-years away in the constellation Orion. It is slightly larger and more massive than the Sun, with an estimated mass of 1.05 solar masses and a radius of 1.22 solar radii. Its surface temperature is around 5,736 K, making it appear yellow-white.

HD 36041 is notable for hosting a confirmed exoplanet, HD 36041 b, a hot Jupiter discovered in 2008 using the radial velocity method. The planet orbits the star very closely, with a period of just 3.1 days. This close proximity results in a high equilibrium temperature for the planet.

The star is relatively metal-rich, meaning it contains a higher proportion of elements heavier than hydrogen and helium compared to the Sun. This higher metallicity is often correlated with the presence of giant planets like HD 36041 b.

HD 36041 is not known to be part of any star system beyond its single confirmed planet. Its apparent magnitude is around 7.7, making it too faint to be seen with the naked eye, but it is easily observable with binoculars or a small telescope.
