Ghost Light (band)
Ghost Light was an American rock band formed in 2017. They were known for their improvisational performances, blending elements of rock, funk, jazz, and jam band music.
History:
Ghost Light was founded by guitarist Tom Hamilton (of American Babies, Joe Russo's Almost Dead) and keyboardist Holly Bowling (known for her solo piano interpretations of Phish and Grateful Dead songs). The initial lineup also included guitarist Raina Mullen, bassist Steve Lyons, and drummer Scotty Zwang. Zwang was later replaced by Taylor Shell.
The band quickly gained a following through extensive touring, building a reputation for their dynamic live shows and intricate instrumental interplay. They released their debut album, Best Kept Secrets, in 2019.
Musical Style:
Ghost Light's sound was characterized by its improvisational nature and the individual talents of its members. They often stretched songs out with extended jams, showcasing their musical prowess and ability to seamlessly transition between different genres. Their music incorporated influences from classic rock, funk, jazz fusion, and the jam band tradition.

Status:
Ghost Light announced an indefinite hiatus in late 2022, playing their final show at the Brooklyn Bowl Philadelphia on December 30, 2022. Members have since pursued other musical projects.
