George Hassell (actor)

George Hassell (born July 4, 1881 – died March 25, 1937) was an American character actor who appeared in over 140 films between 1916 and 1936. He primarily played supporting roles, often depicting stern, dignified, or authoritative figures such as judges, doctors, and businessmen. Hassell was known for his distinctive appearance, including his bald head and prominent mustache.

While not a leading man, Hassell was a prolific and reliable performer who worked steadily throughout the silent and early sound eras. His filmography includes appearances in notable pictures such as The Sea Hawk (1924), The Patent Leather Kid (1927), The Spieler (1928), The Canary Murder Case (1929), The Benson Murder Case (1930), and The Last of the Mohicans (1932).

Hassell also appeared in a number of short films. Despite the large number of roles he played, information about his early life and career before entering film is scarce. He died in California in 1937.
