Geoffrey Streatfeild (judge)
Geoffrey Hugh Benbow Streatfeild (1915-2003) was a British barrister and judge. He served as a Justice of the High Court of England and Wales from 1969 to 1985, assigned to the Queen's Bench Division.
Streatfeild was educated at Winchester College and Trinity College, Oxford. He was called to the Bar by the Inner Temple in 1939. He served in the Royal Artillery during World War II. After the war, he returned to the Bar, becoming a Queen's Counsel (QC) in 1963.
His practice at the Bar focused primarily on commercial law and shipping law. He was appointed a Recorder in 1965 and served as a Judge of Appeal in the Channel Islands from 1965 to 1969.
As a High Court judge, Streatfeild presided over a variety of cases, including criminal and civil matters. He was known for his meticulous preparation and his courteous demeanor in court.
After retiring from the High Court in 1985, he continued to sit as a deputy High Court judge. He died in 2003.
