Galafi

Galafi is a town in the Afar Region of Ethiopia, situated near the border with Djibouti. It lies in the northern part of the Danakil Depression, a geologically active and arid area.

Galafi is known for its salt mining activities. The area is rich in salt deposits, and salt extraction is a significant part of the local economy. The salt is often transported by camel caravan to markets further inland.

The town is relatively small and sparsely populated, primarily inhabited by the Afar people, a Cushitic ethnic group traditionally known for their nomadic pastoralism. The climate is extremely hot and dry, with minimal rainfall.
