GHRP-6

GHRP-6 (Growth Hormone Releasing Hexapeptide-6) is a growth hormone secretagogue (GHS). It is a synthetic hexapeptide that stimulates the release of growth hormone (GH) from the pituitary gland.

GHRP-6 does not bind to the Growth Hormone-Releasing Hormone (GHRH) receptor. Instead, it acts as an agonist of the ghrelin/growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHSR), also known as the receptor for ghrelin. This binding stimulates GH release, increasing plasma GH levels.

Besides its GH-releasing effects, GHRP-6 has been shown to increase appetite, likely due to its interaction with the ghrelin receptor. Other reported effects include potential anti-inflammatory properties and possible benefits for sleep quality.

GHRP-6 is commonly used in research settings and, controversially, in bodybuilding circles seeking to enhance muscle growth and recovery. However, the use of GHRP-6 and other GHSs is generally prohibited in competitive sports.

It's important to note that while GHRP-6 stimulates GH release, the magnitude of this release can be influenced by factors such as age, gender, and overall health.
