Vellèches

Vellèches is a commune in the Vienne department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region in western France. It is situated approximately 10 kilometers (6 miles) north of Châtellerault. The area is primarily agricultural, with some wooded areas. Vellèches is part of the canton of Châtellerault-2 and the arrondissement of Châtellerault. Its inhabitants are called Velléchois and Velléchoises. The commune has a relatively small population. Historically, the area has been involved in agricultural production and regional trade. Local governance is provided by a mayor and municipal council.
