The Rose (band)
The Rose is a South Korean indie rock band formed in 2017. The band consists of four members: Kim Woosung (lead vocalist, guitarist), Park Dojoon (keyboardist, vocalist, guitarist), Lee Hajoon (drummer), and Lee Jaehyeong (bassist).
The Rose gained significant attention prior to their official debut through busking performances and cover song uploads on YouTube. Their official debut single, "Sorry," was released on August 3, 2017, and quickly gained popularity for its emotional lyrics and alternative rock sound.
Known for their self-composed music and strong vocal performances, The Rose's discography includes singles, EPs, and a full-length album. Their music often explores themes of love, loss, and personal growth. Notable releases include the singles "Like We Used To" and "She's In The Rain," as well as the EP "Void."
The band embarked on several world tours, performing in North America, South America, Europe, and Asia, further expanding their international fanbase. They have also participated in various Korean music shows and festivals.
In 2020, The Rose filed a lawsuit against their agency, J&Star Company, citing issues with contract disputes and lack of payment. In 2021, they announced the termination of their contract with J&Star Company. Individual members pursued solo activities during this period, including Woosung's solo albums and Dojoon's musical theatre work.
The members of The Rose have been actively involved in the production and arrangement of their songs. Their collaborative approach to songwriting and instrumental arrangements has contributed to their unique musical style, blending elements of alternative rock, pop, and ballad.
After their legal disputes concluded, The Rose reunited and resumed group activities.
