Peter Dawson (politician)

Peter Dawson (born June 13, 1948) is an Australian politician. He was a National Party member of the Australian House of Representatives from March 1983 to March 1987, representing the Division of Wide Bay, Queensland.

Dawson was a sugarcane farmer before entering politics. His victory in the 1983 election was a surprise, as Wide Bay had been held by the Labor Party for many years. During his term in parliament, he focused on representing the interests of farmers and regional communities. He was defeated by Labor candidate Warren Truss in the 1987 federal election. After his parliamentary career, he returned to farming and remained active in local community affairs.
