G (SEPTA Metro)
G is a designation within the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) system referring to a former subway-surface trolley route. Specifically, Route G operated as a trolley line that ran partly underground and partly on surface streets. The "G" designation was used prior to SEPTA's renumbering of its trolley routes to the 100-series. Route G ran between the 69th Street Transportation Center in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, and various points in West Philadelphia. It was a part of the SEPTA subway-surface trolley lines, sharing underground trackage with other routes in Center City Philadelphia before diverging to its own surface alignment. Following SEPTA's route restructuring, the service provided by Route G was largely incorporated into other trolley routes, particularly the 10, 11, 13, 34 and 36 lines. The "G" designation is no longer in active use.
