French ship Romulus (1812)
The Romulus was a 74-gun Téméraire-class ship of the line of the French Navy, launched in 1812. She served during the later Napoleonic Wars and the Bourbon Restoration.
The Romulus was built in Toulon, France. Like other ships of her class, she was armed with 74 guns, typically a mix of 36-pounder cannons on the lower gun deck, 18-pounder cannons on the upper gun deck, and 8-pounder cannons on the quarterdeck and forecastle.
Details of her early service are limited, but ships of the Téméraire class were vital components of the French fleet. Following the Napoleonic Wars, the Romulus continued to serve in the restored French Royal Navy. The Téméraire class ships formed the backbone of the French battle fleet for many years, and the Romulus would have participated in routine patrols, exercises, and potentially any major naval operations of the period.
Her ultimate fate and decommissioning date are not readily available in common naval histories. Further research may be required to determine the specific details of her later career and scrapping.
