Hrabyně

Hrabyně (Czech pronunciation: [ˈɦrabɪɲɛ]) is a village and municipality in Opava District, Moravian-Silesian Region, Czech Republic. It is located approximately 15 kilometers southwest of Opava and has a population of around 1,200 (as of 2023).

Hrabyně is notable for being the site of the National Memorial to the Second World War in Hrabyně (Národní památník II. světové války v Hrabyni). This memorial complex commemorates the victims of World War II and the liberation of the Ostrava Operation. The memorial includes a museum with exhibits on the war and its impact on the region. It is a significant place of remembrance and reflection for Czech citizens.

The municipality also offers typical rural Czech countryside, with agricultural land and residential areas. It is part of the historical region of Silesia. The area is generally hilly and wooded.
