Falkonera
Falkonera is a small, uninhabited Greek island in the Aegean Sea. It is part of the Cyclades archipelago, although it is geographically detached from the main island group, lying to the southeast.
The island is rocky and barren, characterized by steep cliffs and minimal vegetation. Its primary significance stems from its lighthouse, which serves as a crucial navigational aid for ships traversing the Aegean Sea, particularly those navigating between the Piraeus port near Athens and the eastern Aegean islands and the Dardanelles Strait.
Due to its isolated location and difficult terrain, Falkonera remains largely untouched by human activity beyond the operation and maintenance of the lighthouse. The surrounding waters are known for strong currents and challenging sea conditions, contributing to the island's historically perilous reputation for shipping.
