Faisal Iqbal (cricketer)
Faisal Iqbal (born December 30, 1981) is a Pakistani former international cricketer. He was a right-handed batsman and occasional right-arm medium-pace bowler. He is the nephew of former Pakistani captain Javed Miandad.
Iqbal made his international debut for Pakistan in a Test match against New Zealand in 2001. He played sporadically for the national team in both Test and One Day International (ODI) formats throughout the 2000s. While possessing a sound technique and a reputation for being a promising talent, he struggled to consistently cement his place in the Pakistan side.
He was generally considered a solid middle-order batsman, capable of both accumulating runs and accelerating the scoring when required. Iqbal's international career was marked by periods of inclusion and exclusion, often competing with other talented batsmen for limited spots in the playing XI.
After a prolonged absence from the international scene, Faisal Iqbal continued to play domestic cricket in Pakistan, representing various teams and striving to make a return to the national side. Following his playing career, he has worked as a cricket coach and commentator.
