Fairyland (band)
Fairyland is a French symphonic power metal band, formed in 1998 in Nancy. The band is known for its elaborate compositions, fantasy-inspired lyrics, and high-pitched vocals. Their music often incorporates elements of classical music and film scores.
Fairyland was initially conceived by keyboardist Philippe Giordana. The band's first lineup consisted of Giordana, guitarist Anthony Parker, bassist Thomas Cesario, and drummer Willdric Lievin. Their debut album, Of Wars in Osyrhia, was released in 2003 and gained significant attention in the power metal community. It featured Elisa Martin (Dark Moor) as a guest vocalist.
Following the release of their debut, the band experienced several lineup changes. Their second album, The Fall of an Empire, was released in 2006 with a new vocalist, Maxime Leclercq. This album continued the band's symphonic power metal style but marked a slight shift in tone.
In 2007, Fairyland went on hiatus. Philippe Giordana focused on other musical projects.
After several years of inactivity, Fairyland was resurrected in 2015 by Philippe Giordana. He began working on new material and assembling a new lineup.
The band's third album, Osyrhia, a prequel to their debut, was released in 2020. This album saw the return of some original members and featured Francesco Cavalieri as the vocalist. The album returned the band to its original sound and solidified their presence in the symphonic power metal scene.
As of 2023, Fairyland continues to create music and perform, remaining a prominent name in the symphonic power metal genre.
