Ene Kaups
Ene Kaups (born 1940) is an Estonian-American geographer and historian specializing in cultural and historical geography, particularly of the Baltic region and the Upper Midwest of the United States. She is known for her research on the historical cartography of the Baltic Sea, the migration patterns of Finns and Estonians to North America, and the cultural landscapes they created.
Kaups received her Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota. Her work often examines the interaction between European immigrants and the American environment, focusing on how ethnic groups adapt to and modify their surroundings. She has published extensively on these topics, contributing significantly to the understanding of the cultural and historical links between the Baltic countries and North America. Her research incorporates archival materials, fieldwork, and historical maps to reconstruct past landscapes and human activities.
