Empoli FC
Empoli Football Club, commonly referred to as Empoli, is an Italian professional football club based in Empoli, Tuscany. Founded in 1920, the club currently plays in Serie A, the top tier of Italian football.
Empoli's home stadium is the Stadio Carlo Castellani. The stadium is named after Carlo Castellani, a former Empoli player who died during World War II.
Historically, Empoli has been considered a "yo-yo club," frequently moving between Serie A and Serie B. Despite this, the club has a reputation for developing young talent and playing attractive, attacking football. Several notable players have emerged from Empoli's youth system or honed their skills at the club before moving on to larger clubs.
Empoli has never won a major trophy, but has achieved promotion to Serie A on several occasions. The club's highest league finish was in 2006-07, when they finished 7th in Serie A, qualifying for the UEFA Cup. Empoli's colors are blue and white. The club's nickname is Azzurri (the Blues).
