Edward Norreys (1634–1712)

Edward Norreys (also spelled Norris) was an English politician who sat in the House of Commons at various times between 1660 and 1701.

Norreys was the son of Sir Edward Norreys of Weston-on-the-Green, Oxfordshire, and his wife, Elizabeth Jephson, daughter of Sir John Jephson of Froyle, Hampshire. He was admitted to Gray's Inn in 1653.

He was elected Member of Parliament for Oxfordshire in 1660 for the Convention Parliament. He was re-elected MP for Oxfordshire in 1661 for the Cavalier Parliament, and sat until 1679. Norreys was elected MP for Woodstock in 1689 and sat until 1690. He was again elected MP for Woodstock in 1695 and sat until 1698. In 1701, he was again elected MP for Woodstock.

He served as a Justice of the Peace and Deputy Lieutenant for Oxfordshire. His political leanings appear to have been generally aligned with the Tory faction. He married twice: firstly to Catherine Whitlock, daughter of Sir Bulstrode Whitlocke, and secondly to Elizabeth Ayscough, daughter of Edward Ayscough. He had children by both marriages.
