Dinky Dog
Dinky Dog was a syndicated animated television series produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions in 1978. The show consisted of 30-minute episodes, each typically featuring two separate Dinky Dog cartoons alongside a segment featuring another Hanna-Barbera character or concept.
Dinky Dog himself is the central character, a large, clumsy, and affectionate Saint Bernard puppy. Despite his immense size and often destructive tendencies, Dinky possesses a childlike innocence and unwavering loyalty to his owner, a young boy named Sandy. The humor in the Dinky Dog segments stems largely from Dinky's size creating comedic chaos in various situations, often involving him unknowingly causing havoc or unintentionally assisting Sandy. Dinky's immense appetite is also a recurring gag.
The series enjoyed moderate popularity during its initial run, and has since been shown in reruns on various television networks. While not as iconic as some of Hanna-Barbera's other creations, Dinky Dog holds a place in the history of 1970s Saturday morning cartoons.
