David Warner (actor)

David Warner (29 July 1941 – 24 July 2022) was a British actor who worked in film, television, and theatre. He was known for his villainous roles, as well as his performances in science fiction, horror, and Shakespearean productions.

Warner's early career was largely on stage, including a stint with the Royal Shakespeare Company, where he gained recognition for his portrayal of Hamlet in 1965.

His film credits include roles in Morgan: A Suitable Case for Treatment (1966), The Bofors Gun (1968), Straw Dogs (1971), The Omen (1976), Time After Time (1979), Tron (1982), Titanic (1997), and Planet of the Apes (2001). He also appeared in several Star Trek projects, including Star Trek V: The Final Frontier and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, as well as the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "Chain of Command".

Warner also lent his voice to numerous animated projects and video games. His voice work includes roles in Batman: The Animated Series, Gargoyles, and the video game Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn.

He received a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or a Special for his role as Pomponius Falco in the 1981 television miniseries Masada.
