David Jones (footballer, born 1952)
David Jones (born 12 February 1952) is a Welsh former professional footballer. He played as a midfielder.
Jones began his career at Wrexham, making his debut in the Football League in 1969. He became a regular first-team player for the club, playing in both the Second and Third Divisions. He was a key part of the Wrexham side that won the Welsh Cup in 1972 and 1975 and reached the quarter-finals of the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1976.
In 1977, Jones joined Everton for a fee of £150,000. He spent two seasons at Goodison Park before moving to Coventry City in 1979. He had a short spell with Coventry before joining Cardiff City.
Jones ended his playing career with a return to Wrexham. He played a further season for the club before retiring from professional football in 1983.
After retiring, Jones worked as a coach at Wrexham. He has also been involved in youth development programs in Wales.
