Île-de-France (European Parliament constituency)

The Île-de-France constituency was a European Parliament constituency encompassing the Île-de-France region of France. It was used for elections to the European Parliament between 2004 and 2019.

Prior to 2004, France was divided into different multi-member constituencies. The Île-de-France constituency was created as part of a nationwide shift to eight larger, regional constituencies.

The constituency elected members using proportional representation. Seats were allocated based on the D'Hondt method to party lists that surpassed a 5% threshold of the overall vote.

Notable MEPs elected from this constituency included those from the major French political parties such as the Socialists, Republicans, Europe Écologie Les Verts, and the National Front (later National Rally).

The constituency was abolished in 2019 as France transitioned to a single national constituency for European Parliament elections. The 2019 European Parliament election was therefore the last in which the Île-de-France constituency existed. The results from that election, and those preceding it, offer an insight into the political landscape of the Île-de-France region and the preferences of its electorate regarding European Union representation.
