BioBus
BioBus is a non-profit science education organization based in New York City. Founded in 2008, BioBus aims to inspire young people from underrepresented communities to pursue careers in science and technology through hands-on science experiences.
The organization operates mobile science laboratories, custom-built buses equipped with research-grade microscopes and other scientific equipment. These BioBuses travel to schools, community centers, and public events throughout the city, offering students the opportunity to conduct experiments, analyze samples, and learn from scientists and graduate students.
In addition to its mobile labs, BioBus also operates community science labs where students can engage in more in-depth research projects and participate in year-round science programs. These labs provide access to advanced scientific tools and mentorship from experienced researchers.
BioBus programs focus on topics such as microscopy, cell biology, genetics, and environmental science. The organization strives to make science accessible and engaging for all students, regardless of their background or prior experience. By fostering curiosity and providing opportunities for scientific exploration, BioBus aims to empower young people to become the next generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators. The organization actively partners with local schools and institutions to increase its impact.
