Wacko (film)
Wacko is a 1982 American parody film directed by Greydon Clark. It primarily satirizes slasher films, particularly Halloween. The film stars Joe Don Baker, George Kennedy, Stella Stevens, and Scott Brady.
The plot revolves around a masked killer known as "The Psycho" who terrorizes the town of Pleasant Valley, seeking revenge for a prank gone wrong that occurred thirteen years prior on Valentine's Day. The film follows the bumbling police force, led by Sheriff Dave, as they try to stop the killer while also dealing with eccentric townspeople and absurd situations.
Wacko relies heavily on slapstick humor, sight gags, and exaggerated characters to lampoon the conventions of the slasher genre. It also features musical numbers and surreal dream sequences. Though not a critical success upon its release, it has since gained a cult following due to its over-the-top humor and campy nature.
