David Brown (bishop)

David Brown (born 1961) is a retired bishop in the Church of England. He served as the Bishop of Guildford from 2013 to 2023.

Brown was educated at Peterhouse, Cambridge, and Westcott House, Cambridge. He was ordained in 1986. Before his appointment as Bishop of Guildford, he served in parish ministry, as a selection secretary for the Church of England's Ministry Division, and as Archdeacon of Aston.

As Bishop of Guildford, Brown was responsible for the oversight of the Anglican churches in the Diocese of Guildford, which covers much of Surrey and parts of Hampshire. His ministry focused on supporting clergy and congregations, fostering mission and evangelism, and engaging with the wider community. He played a role in diocesan policy and strategic planning.

Brown retired from his role as Bishop of Guildford in 2023.
