Daroor (woreda)
Daroor is a woreda (district) in the Somali Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Jarar Zone, Daroor is bordered on the south by Misrak Gashamo, on the southwest by Aware, on the northwest by Degehabur, and on the northeast by the Jijiga Zone. The administrative center of the woreda is Daroor.
The terrain is generally semi-arid, supporting pastoralist lifestyles. The inhabitants are predominantly Somali, belonging to specific clans and sub-clans. Basic infrastructure, including schools, clinics, and roads, is present but often limited.
Historically, Daroor has experienced challenges related to water scarcity, pasture availability, and inter-clan conflicts. Development initiatives by the regional and national governments, as well as international NGOs, aim to address these issues and improve the living conditions of the residents. Information on specific agricultural production, population demographics beyond ethnic affiliation, and detailed economic data is often limited and subject to change.
