Dan McKee

Daniel J. McKee (born June 16, 1951) is an American politician serving as the 76th Governor of Rhode Island since March 3, 2021. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously served as the 70th Lieutenant Governor of Rhode Island from 2015 to 2021 and as the Mayor of Cumberland, Rhode Island from 2005 to 2015.

McKee was elevated to the governorship upon the resignation of Gina Raimondo to become the United States Secretary of Commerce. He assumed office during the COVID-19 pandemic and has focused on economic recovery and public health initiatives.

Prior to entering politics, McKee was a small business owner. He graduated from Assumption College with a bachelor's degree in political science and holds a Master of Public Administration from Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government. He is married to Susan and has two children. His policy priorities generally align with those of moderate Democrats, focusing on job creation, education, and healthcare access.
