Dalmatian (rabbit)

The Dalmatian rabbit is a breed of domestic rabbit characterized by its distinctive spotted coat, resembling that of a Dalmatian dog. The breed originated in Dalmatia, a region of Croatia, hence the name. Developed in the early 20th century, Dalmatian rabbits were initially bred for meat and fur production.

The breed standard calls for a predominantly white coat with clearly defined, evenly distributed spots. Ideally, the spots should be round or oval in shape and approximately the size of a dime or nickel. The ears should also feature spotting. The Dalmatian rabbit's body type is typically a medium-sized, commercial type.

Dalmatian rabbits are known for their docile and friendly temperament, making them popular pets. They require regular grooming to maintain their coat and prevent matting. They are generally healthy but, like all rabbits, are susceptible to common rabbit ailments such as overgrown teeth and ear mites. The breed is recognized by most major rabbit breed organizations.
