Cornelius Paus (civil servant)
Cornelius Paus (born August 29, 1726, died 1799) was a Norwegian civil servant and district governor (Amtmann). He held the office of district governor of Hedmark county (Hedemarkens Amt) from 1768 to 1795. Prior to his governorship, he held various positions within the Danish-Norwegian administration. He was a member of the Paus family, a prominent Norwegian family with roots in the 16th century, known for producing civil servants, lawyers, and landowners. His appointment as district governor reflected the family's established position within the administrative elite of Norway during that period. His tenure as governor coincided with significant agricultural reforms and demographic changes within Hedmark county.
