Commission on Information and Communications Technology (Philippines)

The Commission on Information and Communications Technology (CICT) was the primary planning, coordinating, and implementing government body in the Philippines responsible for promoting, developing, and regulating information and communications technology (ICT). Created through Executive Order No. 265 in 2004, the CICT aimed to foster the growth of the ICT sector, improve access to technology, and enhance the country's competitiveness in the global digital landscape. Its functions included developing national ICT policies, setting standards for ICT infrastructure and services, and promoting e-governance initiatives. The CICT also played a role in attracting foreign investment in the ICT sector and supporting the development of local ICT talent.

In 2011, the CICT was abolished through Executive Order No. 47, and its functions were absorbed by the newly created Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT). This restructuring was intended to streamline ICT governance and enhance the effectiveness of ICT-related initiatives across the government. The DICT assumed the responsibilities formerly held by the CICT, continuing the mission of promoting and developing the ICT sector in the Philippines.
