Ko-hkang
Ko-hkang is a town located in the Kokang Self-Administered Zone in Shan State, Myanmar. It is a significant location within the zone and has historically been associated with various ethnic groups, particularly the Kokang Chinese, who share cultural and linguistic ties with China. The town's importance stems from its geographical location near the border with China, its role as a center for trade and administration within the region, and its involvement in the complex political and ethnic dynamics of Shan State. Ko-hkang has been a focal point in conflicts involving the Myanmar military and various armed groups operating in the area, significantly impacting the local population and regional stability. Its economy is largely based on agriculture, trade, and, controversially, illicit activities such as opium production, although efforts have been made to diversify and combat drug trafficking.
