Africa Region (World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts)

The Africa Region of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) encompasses Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting organizations within the African continent. It is one of WAGGGS' five regions, the others being Arab, Asia Pacific, Europe, and Western Hemisphere. The Africa Region works to support and develop Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting within its member organizations, focusing on areas such as leadership development, program development, advocacy, and membership growth.

The region provides a platform for member organizations to share best practices, collaborate on projects, and address challenges specific to the region. Through regional conferences, workshops, and training programs, the Africa Region aims to empower girls and young women, enabling them to become active and responsible citizens.

The Africa Region operates under the guidance of a Regional Committee, which is composed of representatives from member organizations within the region. The Regional Committee is responsible for implementing WAGGGS' global strategy within the region, as well as for developing and implementing its own regional strategic plan. They work closely with WAGGGS headquarters and other regions to ensure a cohesive global movement.

The overarching goals of the Africa Region align with WAGGGS' mission of enabling girls and young women to develop their fullest potential as responsible citizens of the world. This includes promoting girls' education, health, and well-being, as well as advocating for girls' rights and gender equality. The region's activities are designed to be culturally relevant and responsive to the specific needs of girls and young women in Africa.
