Wolfsberg Castle (Obertrubach)

Wolfsberg Castle is a ruined medieval castle located in the municipality of Obertrubach in the Franconian Switzerland region of Bavaria, Germany. The castle stands atop a prominent rock outcrop overlooking the Trubach valley.

The castle's origins are uncertain, but it is believed to have been constructed in the 12th or 13th century. Historical records first mention the castle in 1269, referring to the Lords of Wolfsberg as its owners. The Wolfsberg family were a noble lineage with close ties to the Hohenzollern burgraves of Nuremberg.

Over the centuries, Wolfsberg Castle changed hands several times, passing through various noble families. It served primarily as a defensive stronghold and administrative center for the surrounding lands.
